I get the following error message when trying to start the demo.

"This application has failed to start because X3DAudio1_4.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

And, no, re-installing didn't fix the problem.

defense_grid_windows_demo_r3.exe

If you get that error it means that you don't have the latest version of DirectX on your computer.* The demo is supposed to install the latest version in the background if you don't already have it, but it sounds like that didn't happen.* Go to the Microsoft web site and download the latest DirectX and you should be set.

hello.
I have the same problem he does, and I'm thinking that its a windows 7 thing (it's what i'm using).

Is there likely to be an update to the demo so that it works with dx11 anytime soon? i run multiple 3d games on this machine and it's fine, and up to date through microsoft.

cheers.

Microsoft started including X3DAudio1_4.dll in the June and later versions of DirectX. Our game requires it, some do, some don't. You need a version of DirectX from later than June that includes that audio engine in order to run the game or demo. If Windows 7 isn't shipping with a DirectX that is from June or later, then you need to*get a version from*Microsoft that is later.* We'll let them know, but I think once you decide to use beta software like Windows 7 Beta,*it is more up to you to make things work in that test environment.
