I posted a comment earlier but it put the reply in a strange spot so I'll try again with a new post since I've got more information.

I got a new computer with vista 64 and ATI 4870x2 video card. I never had problems on 3 other computers, all with nvidia cards and either xp or vista 32bit. The only changes are the ATI card and Vista 64bit version. This computer works great overall, no instability that I have found at all although it is new.

After playing for a few minutes (5-10) the game will crash always with a message similar to this:

Problem signature:

Thanks for a great game, I'm hoping to get back to playing it. :)

Thanks for the information - it seems something has happened recently with certain AMD/ATI cards, AMD is looking into it on our behalf.

Thanks,

Jeff

Last night I posted that I was able to get around the new ATI Catalyst driver problem by disabling the Catalyst A.I.

I've now played another three levels at full resolution and effects and have found no problems. Apparently the Catalyst A.I. is the problem for me anyway. That might help narrow down the problem at least.

So for anyone else having problems try going into Catalyst 9.1 and disabling the Catalyst A.I. - this works for me on my 4870x2 and Vista 64bit.

I can't believe you found a workaround to this. The game seems great but it kept crashing to desktop for me every time i almost beat the 3rd level of the demo so I couldn't consider buying it. I tried this solution on my 4870x2 Vista 64bit system and the game works now!! Thanks for taking the time to post it. It let me play and it should also give ATI a hint as to what the real problem is with Catalyst AI.
