i cant get my game to work

I can start program....then when I click on the Awakening button in the game to go to first level, the screen goes black and program closes, leaving me back at my desktop???!?!?!?!? Any idas? I have already updated my graphics driver. I have a 6 month old new laptop....pretty sure that isnt the problem....not sure though!!!

You mention video drivers, usually that is the source of most problems like what you are describing.





If video drivers are updated, then I would next try verifying that the DirectX that came with the game was properly installed.* It is located in a DirectX subdirectory in the game directly and you can run the DXSetup.exe file there to verify.





If still you are having trouble, send in your DXDiag.exe output as well as a msinfo32.exe output to info <at> hiddenpath .com .* That will tell us more about hardware and drivers.





Did the demo run on your computer fine?

I've got the game on Steam and it worked fine until I ran some updates for my graphics card, Direct X and Windows update. Now I can't get the game to open. Steam runs properly, but as soon as I click on the link to open the game it briefly shows the Steam load screen and then abruptly closes without getting me the main menu or even a black screen

Hmm, well, my first recommendation would be to roll back the graphics drivers.* Can you say what card and which driver you are using?
