How do inferno towers compare to gun towers? I know that in the blog you say they're really only cost-efficient if they're hitting more than 3 targets at a time but... I feel like that BARELY ever happens. Even when I place them at an intersection so that they can fire straight ahead at 2 squares and hit a ton of aliens, the fact is that they constantly try to follow different targets, and don't often fire in the optimum direction.

What does everyone else think about inferno towers? Just spend the resources on gun towers instead?

How often do inferno towers "hit" compared to gun towers?

BTW, where's the forum search?

How far in the game did you get? I think they're just introduced too early. Later stages have curves that wrap around a perch perfect for an Inferno tower and hordes of little critters. It's great for early in the walk to destroy the small guys. It does nothing against the shields and little against big bad guys, but you've probably noticed that the gun towers can get confused and fire at a small target and leave a crucial big one alone. This strips away all the small targets first.

I'm up to the last 4 or 5 levels now, and I do use the inferno towers sometimes but the last couple of level I've used them even less than command towers.

There are a number of times that I can place them perpendicular to a straight away where they can fire for 2 squares. But it's not like the keep a static position, constantly firing in the optimal direction.

Instead, they try to track a single target at a time, which means that most of the time they're NOT firing in the optimal directional.

As I said in my first post, I feel like it's rare that they're hitting more than 3 aliens at a time, which means I'd be better off with other towers.

Ill be lucky to use 1 but if I do they do a great job.

Trick 01: I find they work the best when they don't have other towers effecting their turning movement. If a tower is trying to follow an alien and another tower is blocking its path, the Inferno Tower may bug out, in which it either won't fire at all or spits fire a bit at a time. A bad, bad thing and why I hardly use them (must be a bug).

I find these towers work best on angles (or, if possible, with no towers next to them). Allow aliens to move 90 degrees towards the tower then turn moving directly AWAY from the tower. The Tower can shoot its flame right up their bums hitting ALL targets constantly. Big damage here.

Trick 02: Level 1 Inferno's suck pretty bad. Level 2 or 3's only.

Trick 03: Terrible on aliens with shields.

Trick 04: I only use them if aliens walk really close to the tower. If there is space between the tower and the aliens I won't bother with it (thats just my opinion though, others may disagree).
