I'm not sure if I should be contacting you or Aspyr about this problem. I just bought the cd version of DG:TA and when I went to install it on my computer with Win XP HOME on it, it starts to install and then just hangs at the Windows Installer screen. I have 2 other computers with PRO and MCE 2005 on them and while the MCE 2005 version hangs, the PRO installs just fine. Now what I did was copy the files to my hard disk from the cd on the HOME version and everything installed ok but it seems that everything is locked. By this, I mean that none of the other options such as practice, or the 10k are available. Am I seeing this correctly? Also I am having issues with the sound like others here. I can't get sound unless I uninstall the unimodem half-duplex audio device, which is a pain in the booty because it always comes back when I reboot.(I have a 56k internal modem) Any ideas? Are there any patches going to be available? Will you make a level editor and a DG2(I'M AWAKE AND REALLY REALLY PO'D) game?(sorry about that I got carried away!<smile>) Any help is always appreciated. Oh and yes my computer surpasses your min specs.
Thank You
Wes
Hi,
First off, for you and everyone else who purchased the CD version of the game Aspyr does have a full staff of tech support folks who are there to help you.* Here, you have... me when I can log in.* That said, I'll try to help on a few things.
First, I'm not sure about the install problem, don't have any idea why MCE would hang on install.* Try updating the "microsoft installer for windows" on that computer and that may help, but it is a long shot.
As for why*levels are locked on another computer, the save games and locks/unlocks are tied to a specific profile.* Things get unlocked as you play through the story mode and if it doesn't remember that you played through the story mode because you're in a different profile, the other modes will be locked.* If you are saying that you did copy and log into the same profile, I'm not sure why that wouldn't be working on a different computer.
Make sure to copy over the game data profile as well as the game runtime files and then you should be able to get into those same levels.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure where the saved games are stored in the Aspyr version, I think it is a different place than the other versions.* I can find out from the team tomorrow.
On the modem issue, try using "disable" from the right-click menu rather than "uninstall" - I think you'll have better success with that.
As for level editors and sequels, it is on our list of things we badly want to do when we can afford to.* We've spent what we can on the game to date, and sales of the game will help us invest in the future.
