Any update on a port to Mac?

I know you guys mentioned that an outside company was working on the Mac port, any news on its status?

Also, just an idea: You guys should add a Donations section to your site. I know I for one got the game rather cheap on Steam, and would be more than happy to help with additional funding for your future projects. Defense Grid has given me way more than $10 or $20 worth of enjoyment, and I'm sure you're fans would love the opportunity to tip the scale back in your favor.

Progress is being made on the Mac version - we're getting updates from the folks working on it.* Not sure how soon until it is done though. :)

Just want to reaffirm that there is still interest in a Mac version. Any update? I know another company is working on it, but who? I'd be happy to bug them instead!

There is no hatred.* I saw some testing emails this morning about the Mac version being "very very close" to shipping.* I won't know for sure that it is out until it is.* I'll make sure to post about it when it happens.

I have read that a Mac version is out now, but before buying from Virtual Programming or Deliver2Mac, I would like to know if you plan to release the Mac version on Steam as well?

This would enable me to purchase the various extention packs in the future, as well as having all my games always updated in one space.

I appreciate any info concerning my question.

We were in talks with VPL to try to bring the Mac version to Steam and while it still may be possible in the future, what we were trying to do didn't work out on the business side.* It became complex because of the Steam model where if you buy it on one platform you get it for both.* There were several possible models we tried out with that, but none that looked like they'd work for sure with the current reporting system, so it didn't happen.





Perhaps in the future the reporting will be updated and VPL will be more willing to explore the Steam possibility.





At this point in time, there are no plans for it to come to Steam.

thanks for your informative reply. I already went ahead and purchased the game from Deliver2Mac and I have to say: "You guys have done an outstanding job! Defense Grid just rocks!" Thank you Hidden Path, for your dedication.

If the Mac port ever makes it to Steam, I wouldn't mind paying again for what I consider to be the best tower defense game out there.

Could you please tell me if the various additional map packs will also be available for download on Deliver2Mac?

I don't know about the map packs unfortunately.





You've already purchased the game on Deliver2Mac, but one other way for a Mac gamer to access the game on Mac*is now via OnLive.





The experience is a bit different there with the games played on their servers, but they currently are selling Defense Grid: Gold which has all of the content.*





The VPL folks may expand the game in the future as well.* I'll let you know when I find out.

Maybe you are planning to sell the Mac version via the Mac AppStore? Do you know if this might be a possibility?
