Risk Exposure isn't too difficult; the last wave is surprisingly thick but it's still not to difficult to manage. Roundabout's last round, however, is absolutely the most brutal attack I've ever seen in this game. By blocking off the two ramps on the right with a single cannon at their base I had a good going all over the whole map, including a nice zigzag on the platform north of their entrance. The cores don't even get picked up, nothing survives. Then the final wave of Rumblers paired with Decoys busts in and I just can't get the things to die. Not even blowing my whole spare wad of 6000 on extra power helps, four of them still run off with over 80% health.

I guess I'll try working concussions in every possible double-pass and infernos/termporals as much as possible throughout the entire set from the getgo. I can't think of a sure-fire way to deal with these guys on this map.

Helps to watch videos on Youtube if youre stuck to see how its done.

The new map Roundabout doesn't have a YouTube video yet. I figured it out though after numerous tries. The trick is to make your path lead to the exit as quickly as possible, which creates an inoptimal killzone in the center-left platform, but by then totally blockading the northernmost bridge everything has to pass through it twice. Plus you can set up another effective killzone on the two-space area to it's right. Even then it's a nail biter. Easily the best dollar I'm going to spend all week, that was surprisingly tricky.

For those looking for overview maps to discuss strategies for Risk Exposure and Roundabout, those are now available:

I used the predominantly the right side of the map for my kill zones, almost entirely ignoring the big square on the left side. My only success comes from beefing up kill zones that are passed through 2-4 times, leaving the single pass areas with only green towers. And, as you said, the final wave is a total bitch. Killing those fast cruiser aliens is a chore to say the least.

I got my DLC late thanks to Steam's super convenient prepay option , so I've been avoiding this thread.

Risk Exposure (the one with the nice round in the middle) was nice and simple, but if you're looking for a nice challenge, the campaign challenge mode has a couple of waves that are tough. You'll be cruising along with massive surpluses, then see what's coming and blow the entire surplus in seconds to stop it.

Roundabout (the one with the nice square shape to nearly everything) is another great sandbox map, and again brings up grinder sadness, moreso since Jeff has announced there are no grinder maps at all in Resurgence. At first, I thought all those air paths were one path, so when flying aliens started coming from two directions I had to scrap my initial map and start over. Fortunately that happened on like wave 3. I set a single kill zone in the center in the largest square with two concussions, one command, one temporal and the rest guns forcing them to weave back and forth. Near the end of the game I added a lane of L3 guns outside my kill zone closer to the cores, and on the final wave, I just juggled the racers back and forth through my kill zone. Some people think juggling is cheap, I consider it a legit strategy. I actually had to use an anti-air, usually I just arrange my guns to do that, and while they did most of the damage, towards the end it was more efficient to just throw an AA in the center where it could hit waves from both entries. There weren't a lot of places left for guns that would hit both ground and flying aliens.

After trying and trying this map and coming up 3k or more short from gold, I think I've finally figured out the most efficient, non-juggling, path to get gold. Take a look over here and tell me what you think. I'm at work right now so I can't try it out, but this seems to be the optimal path for reusing as many towers as possible. Note that I didn't put WHAT towers go where, I tend to use guns and guns only (missiles and temporals, but those don't count) and have gotten 71k on this map with that strat; the rumblers in wave 25 just get the best of me every time.

Gold / Yellow dots are towers, green line is from entrance to cores, red line is from cores to exit.

I found a very successful way to take care of that pesky last wave. Actually I didn't even figure it out as much as accidently (I like to say "instinctively" set it up that way. I used cannons all over the right side of the map, and it finishes everything off before they could even step away with any cores. In the last wave the rumblers almost make it out alive, but didn't! All cores saved. Path leads them snaking around the map, but after getting the cores, they have to snake all-the-way back to the entrance before making a turn towards the exit. I can post a picture later if any want to see.

I can beat it with all cores saved, but can't get gold. I think that's what we're after (at least I am).

Roundabout is definitely my favorite map of Resurgence so far, and is actually my favorite map, period.

I would also like to say that whoever came up with Racer Decoys is a magnificant, magnificant bastard and caused my jaw to drop the very first time I saw them.

That final wave is also just killer - I got the "Longest Road" achievement and relaxed halfway through, only to get owned. After much fiddling with my towers I managed to get gold only by building up a good head of interest earlier on and nuking the final Rumbler from space as it dashed past my last towers with half HP.

Nice strategy man, i managed to get 78000ish with your map. Thanks! I found that setting the path and then letting your resources accumulate before upgrading works great!

I think there is a bug in roundabout. there are 9 squares closest to the cores. It wont allow me to put a tower in the left center square. - I first put three along the far side from north to south trying to make them use the far right circular ramp which works but then I try to put a tower on the left side of the 9 square grid I just mentioned and it says I have blocked their route! wtf? It is not the upper left square, its the middle left square. very frustrating. comments?

If you look closely at the map, there is a hole in the ground down there.* Once you see it, then you can see how the towers block the way to the cores.* I do agree, that the hole in the ground isn't as easily visible as I'd like.

Wow, I just can't get past the final wave. I have tried the single reversing path, but the problem tends to be the aliens relaying the cores, I have tried dividing up the course by directing them up and around the right perimeter and then zig zag through the middle square on the way out and that ALMOST does it, I would say i'm about 95% complete, but some fast mover will punch through at the very end and the orbital laser just doesn't recharge fast enough for me to prevent it as I have had to use it on the rumblers about a wave before. This map has me pulling my hair out.

Edit:
Strangely enough I managed to complete this with this strategy, no problem, and funny thing is this strategy doesn't even really use the center square area, which seems counter intuitive.
