Hi, I bought the DVD of DG a couple of month ago.
To get the new Map Pack , I downloaded the Included STEAM VERSION on my other PC with Internet connection.
After download and installation ( with Admin Priv. ) there is only a black screen and my PC is frozen.

So I installed the DVD-Version and .......... everything OK !
As last resort (Is it possible to copy the Mission Packs in the working folder of the DVD Installation ?)

My System Opteron 170 (Dual Core 2 Ghz) ASUS A8N-SLI-DELUXE 2 GB RAM WINDOWS 7 Ultimate 64 German RADEON MSI-RX 3870 512MB Ati Version 8.732.0.0 Ati DRV. Date: 05.05.2010 04:18:36

And newest Steam Software

It isn't possible to use the map packs with the disc version unfortunately.* There is significant code that is only in the Steam version to access them and use their features.

I don't know why you'd have a black screen with the Steam version and not the disc version.* I'd update video and audio drivers just in case, but the fact you have one version running fine and the other not is surprising to me.

Well, send us the text output of DxDiag to info <at> hiddenpath .com and we'll take a look at it and see if anything is obvious.* Again if one version of the game runs and the other doesn't, I'm not sure what we'll find.* I'd verify antivirus and firewall weren't causing the problem when on Steam - that could be the source of the difference, though not typically a black screen.

After many attempts on my Firewallsettings, I finally got it to START
But it only starts correct within the Steam Librarry->Games->Play Button game window.
The Desktop ICON won't start it.
But what the hell, it's r u n n i n g :-)

Strange is... that with the previous Firewall Settings - My other Steam Game - SUPREME COMMANDER 2 worked fine.

Perhaps Defense Grid uses Steam features (such as leaderboards) that your other Steam games aren't using.
