View Full Version : Crash at Startup
Whenever I try to start up the game, it crashes before I get to the menu screen and gives me the error " Unable to initialize graphics. Your system may not support this game". I double checked the system requirements and my computer should be able to handle it. Anybody know what might be causing this problem?
That error message comes up when we can't detect a DirectX 9 compatible video card with shader 2 support.* Which video card do you have?

I've bought defense grind on setam and when i start it up this message appear:''Unable to initialize graphics. Your system may not support this game''. I check out for an answer in your technical support section but could not find an answer. My graphic card is a Asus VGA DRIVER V365 and my compûter is not so old.
Can you help me please
Thanks
Phil
That message comes up if you have a video card which does not support shader 2 or better.*
Looking up the ASUS VGA Driver V365 on the internet does not return a result for me, so I can't determine what video card you have.* I will say that a VGA driver is insufficient to run the game.* The minimum specifications indicate that you need a shader 2 video card such as the ATI Radeon 9600 or better, or the NVIDIA GeForce 6100 or better.
If you want to send us a Dxdiag report to info <at> hiddenpath.com, we can better understand what card you have, but unfortunately from the test our software did, it sounds like the video card does not have the needed features to support the game.*
On the good news side, the cost of getting such a video card is relatively small and will have use in many more games than just Defense Grid: The Awakening.*
Looking on Pricegrabber.com I see several great ATI cards (HD3450, HD2650, HD2600, HD 2400, X1300, X800, X600) all under $35.*
I also see several NVIDIA GeForce cards (8400,7300, 7200) also available for under $35.
I recommend you consider adding one of those to your computer system not just for Defense Grid: The Awakening, but for playing any of today's games!

First of all, thanx for your help and for ansewring me back so fast. Hemm what is a Dxdiag??? And I will check out with my seller if
can get one of those graphic card. But im sure that my graphic card is a Asus card...lets try this one....cuz I have 2 CD's. It might be a Asus graphic card Q1496&1262 V400.
Thanx again for your help
Phil
The only V400 I can find for ASUS is a motherboard with integrated VGA graphics and this chipset is unfortunately not sufficient to run Defense Grid.* To send us a DXDiag report, simply go to Start->Run (in Windows XP) and type in dxidag and run that program - it is a system analysis program that is part of DirectX.* Go ahead and "save all information" in a text file, and then email us that text file and we can confirm the hardware and driver settings you have.

Thanx
Phil
send the Dxdiag file as an attachment to info <at> hiddenpath .com (use the at symbol rather than the <at> text of course)
