Could you try setting your
Could you try setting your graphics to low or medium and seeing if the issue still happens?* What graphics card do you have?
Thanks, and sorry for the problems

I had this same problem. The
I had this same problem. The reason I got this was because I installed the game while other programs were running. I fixed it by reinstalling the game after a full restart of my computer. The game worked fine after this.

I changed the graphical settings and tried windowed mode and nothing happened. I'll try reinstall.
I've since tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I managed to do 3 lvl's in the story but then it hazed out again. no any previous map I try also hazes out!

Working on the issue
We have a computer that exhibits this problem (also one we hadn't seen before) coming into the office today.* We'll be working towards a workaround or an update.

Same Issue
I'm getting the same problem sporadically -- first time I played (right after install) it ran fine, then it had that issue when I started it up again. Did a restart and had Steam verify the cache files, then it ran fine; next time I started up (after another restart) it loaded and the level looked fine initially, then the map blurred out when the AI started talking and didn't return to focus.
The screen seems to be resulting from a blur effect. At a guess I'd say the issue is resulting from the the level starting out sharp and then blurring (and not unblurring), rather than starting out blurry and then sharpening (the effects are sometimes out of sequence).
When the issue occurs, I've tried restarting the level, going back to the menu and then restarting the level, I've tried going back to the last checkpoint, changing the resolution, changing between windowed and full screen, changing the graphics level, exiting the game and starting it again, same plus verifying the cache files, all to no avail. Best chance seems to be on either a clean boot or right after uninstall and reinstall.
I'm running a 2.8 GHz AMD processor, 2 GB RAM, with an ATI Radeon 2900 HD Pro with 512 MB VRAM, under Windows XP.

Update
We are working on an update to fix this - turns out to be a timing error that only appears on certain CPUs where the time between frames causes the camera to decide to go to a strange location.* The camera position is stored in a save game, so best thing to do in the meantime is remove the save game created when you start a new level (in the Steam userdata directory under the 18500 subdirectory) and try again.* Meanwhile, we'll work to get an update out that fixes the problem.

Think i found a solution for the map issue
if u are using a dual core machine start the game, alt tab, press ctrl alt dlt, go to processes, find defensegrid.exe right click and go to set affinity and uncheck all except cpu 0
hope this helps

That makes sense as a workaround
Since it*appears*to be*a timing issue on some CPUs, causing the game to only run on one CPU would defeinitely reduce the likelihood that any timing problem caused by threads on different CPUs would take place.* We'll still work on getting the update that fixes this out soon.
