    It's possible that the file

It's possible that the file was corrupted during the download process. I suggest redownloading the game and trying again. Please let us know if that still doesn't work out.

    I think you should contact

I think you should contact Microsoft. Both games released today (yours and Yo Ho Kablammo) are giving very weird problems. These problems are similar to what happened around a year and a half ago, when Double D Volleyball (it stands for Defense) was released. The problem occurred because Live did not expect the game to be released at that date, essentially, it was not in the "this is released" database.

I have downloaded your game multiple times, on 3 different 360s (2 elite, 1 arcade), with 3 different profiles. The same thing happens each time (the white screen crash). The trial game WORKS FINE.

For your consideration, the other game is giving odd problems such as: saying you are offline (when you are not), not awarding any achievements, only working once (and then saying the save cannot be used). Those also point towards the database not thinking the game has been released.

    white screen

Thanks, we're talking with Microsoft about the white-screen bug.* We've never seen it in 1000's of hours of testing.* We'll talk with them about database alignments and see if that has something to do with it.

I also have it, when the

I also have it, when the game boots the screen grows bright and locks, having to restart my 360.

Here are my details of how I got it if it helps

Bought straight from the Marketplace (no Trail), Downloaded on my main living room 360 with my profile on MU and game on HD.

Then again on my 360s HD in the gaming room (same profile on MU).

Tried deleting, redownloading, even downloading the trail, no dice.

    Same thing here.

I played the trial on my Xbox 360 Elite (High Def attached) in the living room and it seemed okay.

Purchased the game and moved my hard drive to my second console in the bedroom. This is a white arcade connected by RCA.

    Game freezes at a whitescreen.
    Re-downloaded the activation only, whitescreen.
Deleted and re-downloaded the full version, whitescreen.
    Tried other games, working fine.

I don't have time to play around with it right now. But its either being caused by the game being purchased, or by a build of xbox 360's.

    Workaround

The issue seems to be associated with the authorization of you buying the game.* If it is something that the game is doing wrong, we'll definitely address it, but right now, it is hard to see if it is the purchasing system or the game.

A temporary workaround*(as provided by "Lil Pips" on the Xbox.com forums) seems to be working for people:

Reboot 360, and sign out. Start the game as a trial and not signed in, then once you hit start, bring up the sign-in page and log in and choose your profile. The game should notice you own it, and switch to the full version.

    If it gets working ...

Spoke to Microsoft, they said they can't do anything about it because not enough people have called in to complain.... Really ?

I let him know that the whitescreen is the Xbox Live Arcade Logo, and its freezing the moment it attempts to process data from their server (this logo is part of the OS, and its loading their network data) when it freezes the system. I don't think this is a problem with Defense Grid at all but a lazy programmer who didn't want to include a simple error trap on the Arcade Logo :P

Guess they don't pay their programmers enough.

    Working with MS

We're working with Microsoft to identify this and both groups will work to fix it as soon as we can together.* Thanks much for your patience.

Same here, i bought the game

Same here, i bought the game on my xbox arcade in the gaming room. After downloaded it again on my 2nd xbox elite the white screen appeared.

I used my xbox-profile on a memory unit.

Sound-stuttering is also present on both units. (optical connection)

rebooting/logging out/starting game as trial/ingame login works for now...

    I posted the following on

I posted the following on the Xbox forums, but thought that maybe I should post it here as well.

I'm an Xbox 360 Compliance tester (I don't work for Microsoft, but a 3rd party company), and I know that this is one of the test I always do with XBLA games.

******** 1. buy the game from Partner.net (XBL for dev) with Devkit A
******** 2. download the trial on Devkit B
******** 3. move the gamer profile on a MU to Devkit B and boot the game (preferably a freshly formatted machine to make sure it doesn't have the license)
******** 4. verify for any odd behavior********

The common issue that comes up is the fact that the game will not properly recognize that the current gamer profile owns the license for the game. Although I didn't work on these game, I know that Castle Crashers and Braid both this issue. Castle Crashers had the issue with not loading the save properly and with Braid you're forced to sign out/in for it to recognize that the gamer profile purchased the game.

But the thing is, officially, MS doesn't test for this. It is not in their list of TCR or functional test. Seeing more games having issues with this, they should really make it a requirement.

For the record, I bought Defense Grid and got the issue too as I play my games on 4 different consoles (2 at home and 2 at work). This is why I make myself test this on games I work on, even though MS doesn't require this test.

To the Defense Grid dev team, I would highly suggest that you let MS know that they should make it a requirement. I know I will if I meet the Certification team.

Hello, I have the exact same

    Hello,
I have the exact same issue. It freezes at the the point that the arcade logo appears but it only gets are far as showing a white screen.

If it helps narrow the fault down my fault is due to gamertag recovery I believe. I have two xboxes in the house.

This is how it failed on mine:

    1. Trial version worked fine on both my xboxes.
    2. On my first xbox I bought the game and it works fine.
    3. On my second xbox I did a recover gamertag on the user that bought it (my kids use both and swap games between the two depending on who is using each!) and did a new download
    4. It now gets the white screen freeze.
    5. On recovering the gamertag on the first xbox it still works fine. On the second it fails, even after deleting the game and the cache and downloading the trial version.

So there is definitely a fault with credentials as already listed. This is the first and only game that fails in this way or any other way.

There are a handful of xbla

There are a handful of xbla games that have this same issue: "Worms 2" and "Aces of the Galaxy," to name a few.

Here's the issue: If you download the game on a specific console and then move your hard drive/memory card to new console, the game locks up and does not load. It's highly frustrating and renders the game unplayable if you have to replace your xbox (and we all know how often that happens!).

I really wish devs would fix this issue (in general). I have 2 xboxs in my house, and I frequently take my hard drive over to friends' houses. Given that 99% of games work in these scenarios, I don't get why developers leave these issues unfixed. I mean, I wanted to show my brother this game earlier today so I took my hard drive over to his house - but the game wouldn't load up. So there you go, you just lost a potential sale because I couldn't even show off the game!

    Issue still persists

It's been a while. Microsoft (as I thought) ignored my questions and left me with a stagnant case number. Good thing I can still access the game by signing out prior to the arcade logo for the game and signing back in.

I'm surprised this issue is still unresolved.

    You are not forgotten

    Hi,

I know the white screen lockup and required workaround is annoying and we're definitely*working on it.* It is going to take some time to fix, and*if nothing else than it will be a while before the fix can go through the certification process and go live.* Expect a few weeks at minimum before this can be addressed for you.* That said, we're working on it right now and doing what we can to get the fix there for you as soon as possible.

We greatly appreciate your patience and are definitely listening to everything that is being said here and at the xbox.com forums.*

Thanks much for your input, feedback, and assistance in troubleshooting.*

    Bump! Still bust!

I got the full game (20 gig XBOX 360, silver live account), it worked fine for about three days and now it freezes when it displays the white arcade screen. Logging out etc doesn't work. That was about two weeks ago. Tried deleting and redownloading.

    No news, no updates...

Very annoyed - how do I get a refund?
