Not trying to create a national secret.* Rather trying not to be able to make any promises until we know we can deliver on them.* I hope to talk more about this next month, we'll see.
Jeff
thanks for the straight answer...
will check back next month

Just want to say I really love the game! It's the first game, on any platform, that I achieved every accomplishment.
That being said... it's been a month, any updates?!
You could just release... you know... 1 map... for us junkies...
We're working on it.* Sometimes as a small developer everything isn't in your control.* Once we know what and when something is going to happen, we'll definitely let you know.
Jeff
I too am still waiting for any news of an expansion or squeal... If they plan to drop the title one would hope they would release a map editor... "a dream ik"... but guess developers are busy on other things... will keep checking back hoping some one on their end throws us a bone)

I really have to look forward. I suppose it's got to be a bit stressful with such a hit that people have a lot of demands for. Here's hoping for a portable version to play at work, no biggie if there's no comment.![]()
i just finished defense grid yesterday, and im ready right now to lay down another $20 (i got it when it first came out) for more maps. more more more! i got distracted by work and other games and finally got enough time over the holidays to polish it off and now im all sad that its done![]()
its been almost 3 months since I first posted

First off,*the DLC*is coming.* I've play tested some of the new levels now and they definitely*exist.* That said, they're not ready yet for release, they need a lot more tuning tweaking, polishing, etc. to match up to what we have released in the past and we have some folks working on them, but not as many people as we'd like because of other projects we are working on.
That's part of the reality of being a small development company.* It is getting done, but slower than we'd like.
We expect to release the new levels for both Xbox 360 and PC as well.* My take is that it will be 3-4 weeks more before I can give you a meaningful update.** I hope to have more details then.
Sorry for the delay, we want the new levels to be enjoyable and bring something new to the table.![]()
Thanks,
Jeff
yo fellas, what it is.........
so guess how many game forums I belong to? one... this one. why? because this game rocks so much that I had to find out if there were any expansion packs or sequels etc. To read that you are working on new maps is fantastic news!! I can't tell you how great this game is. I think its because it has something for everyone. it is a strategy game, an arcade game, a third person shooter kinda, a tactical kill fest etc. but it really is extremely challenging on story mode playing some of the maps and trying to determine how to route the bad guys with what money you have. a truly awesome game. one of my all time favorites. sooooo..........having said that. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say we want a crapload of levels pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzz!!!
you could really make us quite happy with 30 levels or maps (50 would be better)
and then of course you will have to create a sequel or else people will start following you guys around with huge signs that say "DG sequel???" which will be very odd and make people stare at you and cause relationship problems when you are trying to have some alone time with you significant others. : )
in summation: you can't sell crack and then just tell people you are out of stock. we want our crack! (seriously, there is nothing like coming home from a stressful day etc and smokin a bunch of aliens on occasion). thank you in advance for the expansion and sequel(s)! : )
I do very much like the way you think about more levels and sequels and such.* For now, I want to set expectations, that the levels take a bit of time to design, model and then balance, so there aren't going to be as many new levels there as I think you're hoping for.* Hopefully there are more hours of fun coming, but you might want to set your expectations a significant bit lower when it comes to number of new levels.
As for a sequel, we very much hope that this is something we can do.* To do it soon will require a publishing partner and we are having some conversations and we'll see where they go.* If that doesn't work out, know that we'll do one, but it may take a while until we've saved up enough cash in order to pay for the development.
Jeff
I would so dearly love a "Sandbox" level that is just a huge square with the power cores in the middle. This would let players design their own level, almost, by routing aliens solely with turrets. Sure, you could design a giant spiral with hundreds of towers, but it would be far more challenging to try and do it with just a few cleverly arranged towers.
It wouldn't be very difficult to build or test a level like this if one of the existing backdrops were used.
Thank you for your consideration.
It's great to hear that a sequel is on its way. Be careful with it. Treat it right. Nurture it. Let it grow. Just PLEEEASE come up with a more imaginative title than Defense Grid 2. So many game sequels are called (that game) 2 so it would be a nice touch if it was called "Defense Grid: The (something other than awakening.... or 2. Defense Grid: The 2 would be kinda weird)".
Thank you so much for "Height of Confusion". It is exactly what I was hoping for!
this game has died I suppose. What a waste.

Hi Marconos,
I'm so glad you have enjoyed the game so far and all of the content we've released. I will say we have all sorts of plans for more and hopefully will have more to say in the future, but for the moment, our focus as a company has been on some other products that we've been developing and so there will be more of a wait than you'd like. I hope we can tell you more about when the wait will be over.
Thanks for protecting the cores!
Jeff
To Jeff. the player MMXZEN is an obvious cheater! DG is a great game. The fun of the game is to try and top the leader boards. If these new cheaters are allowed to continue. the game will be ruined and you will lose sales and money. why should we buy new
It not dead but it is a waste that we will have to wait who knows how long for DG2 maybe years. To bad no other TD game can even come close to this one and this one is on the slooow track.

Hi Guys,
Know that we feel the same way.* We love this game and can't wait to bring you more.* We're growing at Hidden Path and have grown over the last year as we work on more games than we were working on before.*
New Defense Grid stuff has definitely been planned, but hasn't been finalized to go into production (one group we're still talking with who would fund production will have been talking with us about making this new game for over a year in a few weeks).
It's been a strange couple of years in the game industry where so many of the publishers out there have pulled back their development of new games and we have some big plans for the future that require more financing than we can provide ourselves.* Some of the features and options everyone wants, turn out to be involved to develop*and need a larger plan to support them.
That's the latest - don't worry, we're dilligently working to get ourselves to a place where more DG comes in the future.
Sadly, it will be a bit more of a wait than we'd like.* Though we may be able to pull off a small surprise in the near future - oops, did I just say that?
In the meantime, we'll announce later on some of the other things we're working on - they're good if not great games, but they are very different than Defense Grid.*
Jeff
