Error 51 on Steam - solution

I'm reposting this as I've received some new inquiries about this:





According to the folks at Steam.* If you have an Error 51 it means that your ClientRegistry.blob file in the Steam folder is corrupt.* Try deleting that file and Steam should redownload the correct version of that file.* This should fix your problem.





Additionally, if you get error 51 and replacing your ClientRegistry.blob file doesn't appear to fix the problem, check your firewall software.* If the firewall software blocks some of steam's communication this can also lead to an error 51.

Hi Jeff

Unfortunately I'm also having this issue. I've not had much luck with Steam customer support. So far I've deleted the local game files and verified the integrity of the local game cache via Steam. All to no avail. I've just tried both of your suggestions and neither are working either. I only use the standard Vista firewall, but I disabled it anyway; no luck.

I'm not sure if this helps, but when I try to launch the file nested in the Steam directory [DefenseGrid.exe] I get the error message "Application load error 3:0000065432".

Hope you have a few more suggestions you haven't mentioned here

I wish I had a solution for you on the Application error, but I do unfortunately believe that to be a Steam error that I don't know the details of (since we don't have such a error message in the game to my knowledge).* You could send a dxdiag to us to info <at> hiddenpath .com and we could look to see if we can identify any hardware or driver problems, but beyond that, I'm expecting you'll have to check in with the Steam folks.* I'm sorry about that.

I'm having a similar error when I try to run the program directly from steamapps area (Application load error P:0000065432). When I try to run from Steam, I am getting: Defense Grid: The Awakening failed to start (error code 80) instead.
