in-game glitches

I'm getting glitchy mouse movement in-game. The UI screens' mouse movements are fluid, but in-game movements are very choppy. This issue doesn't seem to relate to frame rate at all, and surprisingly can be fixed by restarting the computer, but if I play any other game, and return to Defense Grid, the glitch also returns. I don't really want to restart my computer that frequently, (call me lazy) so any help is appreciated. System Specs to follow:

AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core 6000+ @ 3.10 GHz
3.25 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT 1GB
XFX GeForce 8200 Motherboard - NVIDIA GeForce 8200, Socket AM2 / AM2+, MicroATX
