Activating Game Agent purchased copy of DG on Steam

I purchased DG on Game Agent back in november when they were doing a promotion, and after playing the last level on grinder using only infernos and temporals, I have to admit that the idea of some new content (free or otherwise, I don't really care) would be a godsend. So obviously reading about Borderland and Resurgance got me pretty excited. I immediately loaded up steam and went to activate using my serial # provided by game agent, and Steam says that it doesn't recognize the code. From what I understand, my options are to use Steam to update or keep waiting.

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Flames?

Thanks for whatever input you folks can provide.

So, GameAgent sells the Defense Grid retail version of the game.* In the actual box product we include an offline version of the game and a separate Steam code.

When you downloaded the game from GameAgent did they give you a code for GameAgent and a separate code for Steam?

They gave me an order number and a 16-digit serial number (####-####-####-####) and nothing else. I tried putting the serial number in to steam, but it said that it didn't recognize the key.
