Does Steam Record Leaderboard Scores in Offline Mode?

So I just returned from a week-long trip, during which I had the great pleasure of playing Defense Grid for 15 hours on my laptop. (I had copied my progress/save game files from my desktop to my laptop before leaving.) I did not have internet access where I was, so the whole time I played I was offline.

When I returned home, I first logged into steam on my desktop; I wanted to compare what my old scores looked like before updating to the new ones.

But then, when I logged into steam on my laptop a few minutes later, suddenly everything changed. The 15 hours I logged playing Defense Grid on steam while away didn't show anymore - the number of hours was the same as on the desktop, before I left.

The worse part is, none of the high scores I spent forever refining are showing up. On levels I've played dozens of times it says I have no leaderboard entires. Also, my player statistics - such as total damage done, resources collected, interest earned, total # of games played, et cetera - have not updated at all either.

    What gives?

I absolutely love Defense Grid... It's easily one of my favorite games of all time, and definitely my favorite game now (and the for the past year)... but this is very frustrating. I was really looking forward to seeing how my scores and stats improved over my trip. PLEASE let me know if there's ANYTHING I can do to recover to my hard-earned stats and scores!

I'm not as sure about how the Steam client works in offline mode.* The game communicates with the Steam client whenever it needs to post to the leaderboard or update stats and the game doesn't know if the computer is online or offline (except when it's trying to download leaderboard information).

The game was sending the data to the Steam client while you were playing and it was my understanding that the client was caching that data.* When it will upload that or if the cache somehow became corrupt, I don't know.

Thank you so much for the prompt reply Jeff!

So it sounds like this is a steam issue then?

That is my suspicion.* The engineer who will know on our side for sure is out on vacation right now.* Let me check with them in a week and a half.

Unfortunately, when Steam is in offline mode, no leaderboards will be written. The Steam client itself does not cache leaderboard scores for posting at a later date. It is up to the application to implement such a feature if desired. Defense Grid does not do this. Unfortunately, you will have to play the levels again once connected to the internet in order to get your scores written to the leaderboards.
