Game freezes Instantly since "you monster" (360)

Hi Downloaded "you monster" yesterday launched my game and it froze. i restarted console it froze. i tried about 5 times froze instantly EVERY time. it still happens today aswell.

I tried going offline to access it and it froze.
I uninstalled the game then reinstalled it. It still froze
I uninstalled the Addon then reinstalled it it got to the menu then froze, (freezes instantly every time since)
I uninstalled all updates and the game and addon. Reinstalled them all and it froze while scrolling the campaign menu.
Also just tried moving all data to a usb and removing hardrive then playing it. still froze

I dont know what to do. I really wanna start playing the game just cant.
Also i dont have cloud storage on.

its a black xbox slim. 250GB hardrive. and have had no problems before even on defense grid. also all my other arcade games are still working fine.

hangs at the xbox live arcade screen... have to turn the console on and off. just to confirm everything else on my 250gb halo reach console is fine. Done all the steps as above, does the same on another console i own as well. a fat 120gb. this is an issue with this game only. Which blows cause i love this game.

Hi Folks,

Thanks so much for reporting these things. We've been talking with Microsoft a lot over the last 24 hours and will continue to do so. The freezing and the achievement error are not something we saw in the test environment they provide to us, and aren't something we have been able to reproduce here in either environment, so it appears to be a difference between how our game behaves in the test environment vs. how the same game behaves in the production environment for *some* people. Already Microsoft found one way in which they hadn't set up things as they were supposed to be in the production environment and we'll work with them to see if there are other ways as well.

Our goal is to help MS find any issues on setup, or get a repro case that we can see under the debugger and determine what is happening. We're on that and will do what we can.

Ok so found a fix. though its an annoying one and might only work for me and wont work for the slim with built in 4 gb.

I deleted the game dlc and patch.

then redownloaded them all onto a USB stick. then removed my harddrive. and played from only the USB. and it works. but i cant play online cause i cant fit the new dashboard updates onto my usb device. so no leaderboards for me . achievements still unlocked though. and this is an awkwards as hell fix.

Im making an assumption that there must be somesort of gamesave/dlc/game on my hardrive which is interfeering with defense grid. but i have over 300 different game info on there it would be impossible to figure out what game it was that was incompatible with it... i've heard of stuff like that on PC's so could that be the case here?

if we cross referenced everone who has the problem to see what they have in common on their hardrives we could fix it ...

or im going in the complete wrong direction. ill leave it to you experts to find a fix hopefully "fingers crossd"

oh and by the way.. loving the new DLC

It is unlikely that content from one game is affecting another game. The Xbox architecture really prevents that compared to a PC. What we do think may be happening though, is that when the game went out, the information on the achievements didn't end up in the data centers. Yesterday they fixed that, but it may be taking longer than expected to propigate out to the different data centers. Storage media shouldn't be the problem - in fact, hard drive should work better than USB. What I'm wondering is if finally your data center got the right info, and now it works for you regardless of where you install it. Does it still not work for you if you do hard drive?

cache re-cleared and complete reinstall, still nothing but a black screen. works fine without new content and update but nothing with either installed.

Same problem here on a 320Gb Cod MW3 Elite 360
I've tried to :
-Clear my system cache
-recover my gamertag
-Download the game and all the addons again.
-Turn my console into english in both language and region menu (I'm french)

After all this stuff I still can't go through the xbox live arcade logo

Hope you can find where the problem is, will be please to help the devteam if you need some more info

Nope still doesnt work on my hardrive. Since when i only use my usb i dont have all the new dashboard updates maybe its something to do with the new dashboard thats causeing the problem?

can play the dlc "you monster" now if i remain off-line and don't accept the update. after about the sixth time of trying various methods included this before for some mysterious reason it just worked. So for me it is just the update that is the problem now.

When you say "the update" which update are you talking about - Defense Grid's update or the dash's? You Monster requires Defense Grid's update to work so I assume you are talking about the dash update, but I want to make sure to be clear. I've sent this thread to Microsoft for them to know about - heard back a lot from them yesterday, but not much today (likely because they're dealing with several dash issues), hopefully we'll know more from them tomorrow.

For me its the Dashboard update which i refuse to let it work.
i have to refuse it anyway cause it wont fit on my USB stick.
(i have the new Xbox dashboard But without the live updates so i cant play online)

if i clear the system cache. load the game and don't accept the game update i can play it offline. New dash update is fine. this wasn't always the case it wouldn't do this when i first joined this thread. Then it would just hang. No glados dialogue, as in the trailer, is there meant to be some?

Yes, quite a bit in You Monster. Without the update, you really can't play You Monster.

Hello, Here's what's happened to me!
Downloaded DG, loved it, got all the achievements then thought I'd download the extra maps. All was fine until it came to getting the last achievement, after the first attempt the game just froze after I'd completed the level, the second attempt came up with a message saying "can't award achievement, storage full, logging you out of XBL", or words to that effect. The achievement was awarded, but I kept getting the same message, along with the occasional crash. Anyway I stopped playing after a while until 'You Monster' came along, which I excitedly downloaded and had a go at the first level, at the end of which, it crashed. I tried again with the same result, except this time I got the achievement message again.
I've deleted everything and downloaded just the game and You Monster, I've had 2 goes at the first level again, it's not crashed, but has given me the message again. Please advise! (my XB is only about 6 months old and I've never had any other problems). Great game by the way... when it's not crashing!

Along these same lines, have a 360 with the 250 drive. When I went to play DG this morning, there was a 3MB update that was trying to come down. For the first three times I tried to install it, the screen would flash before I could select the Download option and it would kick me back to the new XBox dashboard. I finally was able to get the download to come down, but now each time I go to start DG, I go to a black screen and the XBox is unresponsive - have to power off and back on again.

Played 6 or 7 levels this morning, the first 3 times I got the "achievement fail/storage full/logging out" message then for the next 3 or 4 levels everything was fine and I was awarded the first gold achievement. No crashes. (my XB has a 250 HD)

Just tried to play the level which restricts you to 1 of each type, (the 4th?) within a few seconds of the first tower being placed I recieved the usual error, this is the first time it's happened mid-level. Anyway, I was able to OK it and resume play, only for it to completely lock-up at the end.

We had a good discussion Friday afternoon with Microsoft, but we're waiting to hear how the fix can be applied from them. Hope to know more on Monday. It really pains us that this is happening to some of our customers after all the testing we went through to try to prevent anything like this expeirence.

Hi,
i've the same issues since the download of the Monster DLC. My XBOX 360 (slim 250 GB) freezed when i start Defence Grid (game is installed on harddrive).
With a little luck after 3 oder 4 freeze i can play the game. For your investigation to fix this problem eventually it could help my experience with the Defence Grid Update. The Update completed and quits with a black screen and my xbox freezed.
Thanks a lot that your're aware of the problems that your Defence Grid Customers actually experienced.
