There was a 3mb system update I update the game and after the update the game freezes, i restart the xbox and load up the game and I have issue #3 with no music and the DLC is unplayable, weird colors, and you can't see the enemies or anything.
I should also point out I'm in a slim 360, with the 160gb harddrive, and up until this point i've never had a problem with this game or any other.
THe patch doesn't address issue #3, we can't reproduce it in the test environment so we don't know properly how to fix it. Best thing to do is wait 5-10 seconds longer on the press start screen before entering the game. If you see $cam_monster or any other technical text back out and don't continue to play. Wait at the press start screen and when you reenter the game, the text should be fine and then you can continue.

Agreed! and the wait ten seconds fixed the problem for me. Keep up the good work and always look forward to what you guys will give us next.
The update fixed the achievements for me, however the game still freezes on super grinder on the portal II map. I also still get the error message.
I dont realy care about that, thanks for working on an achievement fix ! Hate it when i cant complete a game due to bugs,,,

Yes, froze this AM on an older map, when my xbox finished a DL and the pop up came on the screen.

I still can't play it. I load it up and it does the 3 mb update and then goes black and I have to reset my system. I try again and just does the same. It use to not even start the update before kicking me to the dash board. I am using the 320 gig Gears of War slimline system.
Froze two more times on me, one more time when a D/L completed.
Then the second, was when it was loading a map (portal map pack, 2nd to last map, story challenge)
I wasn't sure how to cross-post between forums so I am doing it the old- fashioned way. I just posted to the "Achievement Issue & Freezing Should be Fixed" thread, but since this is the last thread I left off on, I wanted to post here as well:
First off, I have gone through the grab-the-latest-update-it-failed-and-then-deleted-and-completed-the-complete-download dance.
While I have to say that I am happy I got to play for about two hours this morning, this is the first time that the game has worked since 17 December. Unfortunately, I have no idea what voodoo was invoked in order to play the game. More often that not, the game goes into what I call a Black Screen of Death - screen goes black, nothing happens (drive in the XBox even seems to spin down) and I need to do a hard reset (button on the Xbox itself) to get it to come back. This afternoon, I was able to get to the Xbox Live Arcade screen before everything froze (no music).
I have to say, this is getting supremely frustrating.

I had only attempted Super Grinder on Surprise party and just the once when I last posted, been away from then until now. I just loaded up Story level of Surprise Party and when I killed the first Alien I was once more greeted by the unable to award achievement message but I also received the 2 achievements I had met the requirements for but not received before the update went live. I am tempted to reinstall the game as I started receiving the unable to award achievement message a fair while before the You Monster DLC was even released
I keep getting this error randomly, also sometimes in the middle of game play, not after a map is finished
Just did a Story challenge map and it froze when finished to show the score

I wanted to give you a full rundown of my issues starting from the beginning.
I have an XBOX 360 with a 60 GB HD. I believe it is an XBOX 360 Pro from 2008.
I had previously downloaded Defense Grid many months ago. In fact, looking at my achievement dates my first achievement was unlocked on June 30th, 2010. I also purchased and downloaded all 4 map packs. I unlocked all of the achievements for the main game then all of the achievements for the DLC days later.
On Tuesday I downloaded the You Monster DLC. Once the download finished I started up the game and received the title update. I went into the story mode and started the first level in story mode and during the mission after I killed the first boss I received the message that I cannot unlock any achievements due to etc. I ignored this message and completed the first map. I received the same message again. When I loaded the second map the map loaded and the level started but all of the textures were missing from the map. Everything was pink. After a minute or two my xbox froze and I had to power it off using the power button on the xbox.
After I turned on the xbox again and started up the game I saw the $scam stuff in the menu system. I played the second mission for a few minutes and it froze my xbox again. The textures did load properly this time.
Yesterday I went to try it again and received more achievement error messages and received another freeze.
It appears that all of the errors previously identified still exist for me. I would be happy to try any solutions you can provide, such as redownloading the game or title update or DLC.

As of 1/6/2012, on a new Xbox 360 250GB console, I am experiencing the following console lockups under the following scenarios:
- Launching Defense Grid
Sometimes when I launch Defense Grid it lockup up just before the hidden path splash screen. The XBox Live splash screen appears, music starts, and then a few seconds later the console "locks up". Only solution...reboot.- Levels 60-80 while playing grinder on any You Monster levels
I am unable to complete ANY grinder games on You Monster. When I get to around levels 60-80, the game locks up. Only solution...reboot.- Downloading applications in the background - locks up 100% of the time
If I happen to start a background download, then start Defense Grid all works well until I pause and step away for awhile. After a period of time, the download continues and finishes with the pop spash dialog box indicating that it has completed. At this time, the console is lockuped and I am unable to continue the game. Only solution...reboot.- Same achievement issues other have been seeing.
Hopefully, these symptoms I have been seeing will assist the developers in correcting the root problem.
Note, I do have all of the other maps installed too.
As I mentioned in my last post I got the achievements I previously was being denied but I'm still getting the cant award achievements message and the game still keeps freezing so I decided to delete the game, all dlc and updates from my cache, leaving only my save data on my hard drive. I re-downloaded everything, loaded the game, applied the update and when the game restarted after updating I was presented with this message "Error. Game data files are corrupt. Please reinstall." I selected ok and was taken back to the dashboard. I then loaded up the game with no problem. Apart from one unable to give achievement message the game has been playing fine thus far but the Game data files are corrupt message cant be good!

Hi Jeff and everyone.
I've read a lot on this forum about the 'error: no achievement awarded...', and I know it should be fixed by now (last December if I remember well). BUT! I still get this message at the end of a level. Though the gold medal is credited and saved, I have the message.
I redownloaded the basic game and all its DLCs, I erased the device cache, I am connected to the LIVE, I installed the latest update, I have my save file on my console hardware, I reloaded my gamertag profile, and......... I still get the message.
So my question is: should I bother doing all the gold medals despite of this message and still get the achivements at the end of the You Monster campaign, or no need to get those medals because at the end, I won't even unlock a single achievement, and I'll have to redo all of them again?

The message as best we know currently appears and is annoying, but does not actually prevent you from receiving each of the achievements available. People have reported unlocking all achievements even while getting the message during that and after that.
