My game crashes due to the sound bug. When I disable my soundcard, the game is fine, but it won't start if I don't disable the soundcard. I only have 1 audio device, so I don't know why I'm having trouble. I'd really like to be able to play the game with sound, and without having to disable my sound card every time I play the game. Is there any way you can help me? Thanks.
According to Microsoft, the main source of errors in their sound startup code is related to older dial-up modems which inform Windows that they are also sound devices.* Check to see if you have such a modem and try disabling that rather than your sound card and see if that works for you.* The folks at Microsoft are working on this, but with the holidays I don't know how long it will take for them to have a DirectX update.
