We had actually been looking at kickstarter for over a year, but until Tim's effort in February we hadn't seen a game raise more than $150k. After that, we waiting a couple months because there were some great conversations going with partners, but those fell through, and so in April we started planning this. We completed our work in May and then the folks at AMD and Razer started talking with us, and with a break around E3, it was now time to launch.

Is there any way to join in on the kickstarter without an Amazon account?
Just Amazon only takes credit cards, and I only have Paypal, and so I can't give you all my money

Understood. Once we cross the minimum threshold on Kickstarter and know it will be going forward, we'll open up a PayPal way to participate.

Would said Paypal method have the same rewards? And would it be in strict competition with the Kickstarter for remaining exclusive rewards?

I expect rewards would be the same, yes. We have a limited supply of video cards and mice, so if they are gone, those wouldn't be offered. Early birds will likely all be full by that time. As for the limits at the higher end, I expect we could open those up a bit.

We checked into it and got some confusing information about paypal freezing accounts associated with "pre-orders" (which this is). We're investigating further.

I am extremely happy that this worked out for you all. Hidden Path is the best and even if the kick starter thing didn't work out (which it did - thankfully) I was happy to be a backer whether or not the project was funded

Excellent. Hopefully we'll get plenty of folks into the mix and let the ideas churn for a while. Been having the darnedest time getting folks to pitch in on that thread I made on the Steam board - maybe they're just conserving their ammo for the backer forum? heheh

I loved the first DG game and just found out about the kickstarter today. What was the ending amount? Did it make it to 1 million? Is there anyway I can be a backer this late in the game? I would really like to help out and get some cool DG stuff!!!

Sure - email pledge <at> hiddenpath <dot> com and tell them what pledge reward you'd like. There are no video cards or mice left, but any pledge level available at the end of the Kickstarter should be considered still available.
